Claiming the profile and earning higher seals depends on 501(c)(3) recognition and filings (e.g. Form 990).

Your personal Candid guide was for research. This is the organization side: claiming your charity’s own profile and earning the transparency seal that funders look for.

Transparency you control becomes trust funders can see

Candid already lists your organization from public IRS data. Claiming the profile lets you tell your story and complete the fields that unlock the seal — the higher the seal, the more credible you look to grantmakers.

  1. 1

    Claim the organization profile

Once recognized, go to candid.org, find your organization, and request to become its profile manager (Candid verifies you represent the charity).

  2. 2

Complete the profile for the seal

Fill in mission, programs, leadership, finances, and goals. Each section you complete raises your transparency seal: Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum.

Aim for Gold as a practical target; many funders filter for it.

  3. 3

    Keep it current

Update the profile yearly (after each Form 990) so the seal stays valid and the information funders see is accurate.

Common questions

Is this the same account as my personal Candid login?

You sign in with your personal Candid account, then request to manage the organization’s profile. The profile and seal belong to the charity; the login is still you.

Which seal should we aim for?

Gold is a strong, achievable target that many funders look for. Platinum adds quantified results/metrics — pursue it once you have outcomes to report.
